Romantic Picnic Ideas

Côté Est
This is the time of year for alfresco dining and moveable feasts.
I love the idea of packing a picnic and heading to the beach, the river, or even the park!
The photo above is my favorite picnic idea. Pure fantasy!

Picnic at Ascot
I've gathered more picnic idea photos to inspire you to haul out your basket and make some potato salad!

Campagne Decoration
This one was the inspiration for my failed attempt to picnic by the river.
Just add the trout!

How Romantic!

One of my favorite romantic picnic settings was this one styled by Julio of Beaux Mondes Designs. Set up at the base of an old elm tree in the park, he even brought the Waterford Crystal!

Country Living
But not all picnics need to be enjoyed on the ground. This 1958 Nash Rambler gives new meaning to the term, "moveable feast!" Hence, the All-American tailgate picnic!

Not all picnics have to include the proverbial potato salad either.
A little cheese, a little fruit, wine and thou!

Country Home
So haul out your picnic basket and pray for warmer weather!
It looks like more rain is on the way, but in the meantime, I'm dreaming of a romantic moveable feast.

Thinking of our daughter Ashley, who is celebrating her 25th birthday today.
My free spirit, she is on the road today, to a new adventure in Taos.
Wish her luck!

Memorial Day Moveable Feast

On Sunday, I packed the picnic basket with all kinds of goodies. We were going to find a nice spot on the Russian River and have a leisurely lunch. After all, my melmac patriotic plates were dying to make their debut!

After driving up and down the river for over an hour, it occurred to us that there wasn't any river access, and we were getting very hungry and irritable!
So we went back home and set up our moveable feast right on the coffee table in the pool house.

Great idea! And, more comfortable too. This wasn't just a photo opportunity...

...it was also lunch!

Everything was delicious! All from Big John's Market in Healdsburg.
Three kinds of salads, two different sandwich wraps...

...and champagne to toast!

I'm still bound and determined to photograph a picnic by the river someday.
However, it was awfully nice to picnic at home on the new indoor/outdoor rug from Pottery Barn!

We set it up the day before in the rain. I think Dexter really likes the new rug!

I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
On Friday, I'll join Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday.
